The Vice President of Assets-Based Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee the operation activities of company-owned assets of a Southern Minnesota trucking company, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. The VP will understand the business, challenges and opportunities of the trucking industry. He/she will collaboratively develop and own all activities to manage and improve fleet operations, and will build and lead a team who provide front-line support to our professional drivers. The VP must understand the needs of employees, customers and the community, and will treat all parties with dignity and respect in difficult situations and maintain a positive, service-focused mindset.

KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in leading, building, developing, and maintaining collaborative teams at a company whose major business is commercial trucking. Class A CDL preferred.
Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in transportation management or related field, preferred. Combination of education and applicable work experience will be considered.
Strong computer application skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local fleet and safety regulatory requirements (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Knowledge and experience with transportation systems and technology including but not limited to: E-Logs, PeopleNet, Transportation Management Systems, etc.
Excellent executive presence with strong leadership, collaboration, analytical, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Must be a strategic thinker who is results-oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the organization.
