Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Accounting Department, including managing the Accounting Department staff. Daily operations include general ledger account maintenance, analyzing data, and internal and external reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who understands generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”), with deep understanding of databases and systems who can take ownership of responsibilities.Responsibilities:* Supervise and train Accounting Department staff to ensure daily operations are being completed in a timely manner.* Manage monthly financial close process, including reviewing and approving journal entries, ensuring all general ledger balance sheet accounts are reconciled according to schedule of frequency, and ensuring all monthly activities are completed.* Interact with all Dime department heads in order to produce complete, accurate, and timely month-end financial reporting.* Assist with preparation of financial reports at month-end and quarter-end for internal and external reporting.* Oversee general ledger administrative functions which include account maintenance, research of processing exceptions, and mapping of transactions from Dime’s core loan and deposit system to the general ledger.* Oversight of fixed assets and prepaid assets, including the determination of asset service placement, review of remaining useful lives of the assets, asset disposals and related asset amortization calculations.* Oversee the bank’s lease portfolio from an accounting perspective to ensure compliance with ASC 842.* Ability to query various company databases to create ad hoc reports to perform detailed analysis and other reporting requirements.* Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.* Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.* Minimum 5 years’ previous experience in an Accounting or Audit department with proficient knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP.* Demonstrated ability to manage a team of professionals.* Banking/financial services industries experience and/or knowledge of FDIC regulations a plus.* Tax knowledge a plus.* Knowledge of Fiserv applications (Premier, Prologue) a plus.* Proficient in Microsoft Office.* Ability to work in fast-paced environment, multitask, and communicate effectively.* Ability to execute and follow-through on assigned responsibilities.
