JOB PURPOSE:
The Wellness Coordinator implements evidence-based, sustainable health education, prevention, and wellness programming for the staff at Pecos Children’s Center (PCC), under the guidance of the Senior Consultant for Wellness. Program offerings will mitigate job-related stress and provide resources and activities for staff to learn and practice self-care to maintain and improve their health. Programming areas include mental/emotional health, physical activity, nutrition, sleep, tobacco cessation, connection/purpose, and health maintenance/preventive care.

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
COMMUNICATION: Fluent English and Spanish language skills are required. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means.
COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.
COMPUTER: Working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel; PowerPoint and Access a plus.
DECISION MAKING: Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of programming and educational activities. Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work-related problems.
TECHNICAL: Knowledge of clinical services and community resources.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Orientation: 5 hours
On the Job: 6 months to one year
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDS:
Multi-line telephone, computer, ten key calculators, printers, copiers, faxes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Constant – Ability to communicate with veterans, their family members, staff and community/support services personnel to determine needs and actions to be taken.
Frequent – Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.
Occasional – Ability to lift, stack, load and move up to 25 pounds from varied heights.
Occasional – Ability to drive safely and recognize hazards.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoors: 50% – Office, enclosed area, dorm, tents, and residential environment; generally normal noise level
Outdoors: 50% – All-weather conditions and variable temperatures.
