JOB TITLE: Web Developer
REPORTS TO: Director of Digital Product Development
Do you have a passion for front-end web development? Kentucky Educational Television (KET) is looking to hire a full-time Web Developer.
As a member of our team, you’ll help bring learning to life in Kentucky. KET serves more than one million people each week through television and more than a dozen web assets. Join us and you’ll help build digital platforms that serve educational and uplifting content to students, teachers, and families.
Together, our web team manages custom themes in WordPress and Moodle, an in-house API, cloud-based infrastructure, and more. We’re looking for a web developer who likes to be creative, learn new skills, and advance professionally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and maintain custom code for KET’s digital ecosystem.
Exhibit professional level of skill in web technologies.
Maintain brand guidelines and the KET aesthetic in all work.
Have a strong understanding of good UX/UI design.
Work individually and collaboratively with teammates.
Learn third-party systems that interface with KET’s digital properties.
Participate in training and code reviews to expand skills.
Follow cybersecurity best practices in day-to-day job functions and code development.
Understand and follow W3C and WCAG best practices and compliance standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications:
Completed training or relevant college courses in web development or can demonstrate competency through portfolio of work.
Proficient knowledge in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, and MySQL.
Entry level experience with content management systems such as WordPress or Moodle
Firm understanding of software development fundamentals and best practices.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Familiarity with Git version control.
Preferred Experience:
WordPress CMS, Moodle CMS, SharePoint, WCAG 2.1 standards, OWASP standards, JavaScript frameworks, third-party APIs, AWS or similar cloud infrastructure, programming around video content and streaming media, and Agile methodology.
