In this role, you will be responsible for administering payroll related activities. This position supervises, administers, and performs operations of the payroll department and oversees the compilation and preparation of payroll-related data and is involved in the processing of time and earnings records, checks and transmittals. Leadership – Provides direct supervision to the payroll staff. This includes but is not limited to delegation and evaluation of payroll processing and projects; provides timely and effective coaching regarding performance and development plans; provides effective leadership and supervision to ensure the development of staff and effective communication of clear performance expectations. Fosters a positive work environment that encourages collaboration and candid feedback to management and staff.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting – Research issues or problems reported by Human Resources, managers and associates, ensures the problem is fully resolved and preventative measures are put in place. Understands business practices of different HR departments to help resolve problems. Works with IT technical staff to evaluate, trouble-shoot system functionality and issues.
Payroll Administration – Ensures accuracy and timeliness of multi-state, bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing. Responsible for directing all activities of the payroll staff, including developing and maintaining payroll procedures and processes. Researches and resolves payroll tax issues in a multi-state environment. Responsible for payroll-related GL account reconciliations. Performs periodic audits and responsible for accurate year-end payroll close and Form W-2 processing.
Tax/Accounting Support – Serves as liaison between company and local, state, and federal agencies regarding payroll issues. Liaison to other company departments regarding payroll and tax issues. Oversees processing of all quarterly federal, state and local tax reports for multiple legal entities in the US region.
Subject Matter Expert – Represents Payroll for projects that impact payroll processes and/or payroll systems. Provides payroll expertise and contributes to the successful implementation of projects. Engages in the planning, designing, and testing of new systems and processes.
