The Benefits Specialist provides support for all aspects of Cielo’s Benefits Department for the North America region. This self-motivated, detail-oriented professional serves in a hands-on role, coordinating the tactical aspects of benefits and assisting to drive strategic benefits programs. This dynamic professional is someone who thrives in a service-oriented, collaborative atmosphere and can seamlessly support multiple projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as a resource for employees, providing information and answering inquires related to benefits. Assist with benefits audits for Cielo benefit offerings. Monitor the North America Benefits inbox for inquiries. Maintain knowledge of U.S. and Puerto Rico benefits and retirement regulations. Pull reports and analyze data to assist with vendor renewals, 5500s, invoicing and HCM system accuracy. Assist with payroll-benefits issues and corrections. Update/correct benefit enrollments within HCM system when issues are discovered or at the request of employees when appropriate. Review and process life events in HCM system. Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities. Support the implementation of new programs and/or plan design changes for all plans. Support the development of benefits communications Assist with open enrollment Update benefits intranet page to include benefits policies, SPDs, SMMs, benefits communication and refreshing design. Ensure compliance to ERISA, HIPAA and other state and federal plan legislation. Review ACA data for accuracy and offer coverage to eligible employees. Assist with year-end benefits processes. Preserve confidentiality of medical documentation, privileged conversations, as well as everyday operations of the Benefits Department. Work closely with the Payroll Department resolve benefits-payroll related issues. Resolve 401k requests assigned by retirement vendor. Process 401k files through vendor system and correct errors. Additional duties as assigned. Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred. Associates degree required in Human Resources or related field. Experience:
Minimum of three years’ experience in a benefits role. Payroll experience is preferred. Clear understanding of U.S. benefits and retirement regulations, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA and COBRA. Minimum of one year experience in retirement benefits. Dayforce experience preferred. Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Strong technical acumen, proficient in Microsoft Office and utilizing HCM systems. Strong work ethic, ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills Sound independent judgement, analytical and problem-solving ability. Ability to establish trust and credibility with employees at all levels. Ability to make fair, unbiased decisions and remain level-headed in demanding situations.
