Duties Summary
Under the general supervision of the head of the Human Resources (HR) Office, conducts departmental administrative services to assist with employee transactions, recruitment, examination, and suitability checks with direct supervision by an assigned Human Resources staff member. The position will function as an assistant to a permanent level staff member to manage assigned tasks for the above identified subject matter.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Knowledge of:
Arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division);
Filing and other general office work;
Sufficient communication skills in order to speak, read, and write effectively.
Education:
Graduation from high school preferred.
General Experience:
At least one (1) year of progressively responsible general office clerical experience.
Specialized Experience:
At least one (1) year of experience in an office where the work required the knowledge and application of pertinent HR rules, procedures, and program requirements.
COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT:
As a condition of employment with the State of Hawaii, all qualified external candidates who have been given a conditional offer of employment must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and shall be fully vaccinated by his/her/their employment start date. A vaccination acknowledgment request form will be provided and the individual may elect on the form to begin the interactive process that pregnancy, a qualifying disability, or a sincerely held religious belief prevents the candidate from receiving a COVID-19 vaccination.
Please note that the COVID-19 vaccination policy above will apply to new hires not currently employed by the State of Hawaii Executive branch as a permanent employee. The COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Acknowledgement form shall be provided to and completed by only external prospective State Executive Branch hires that have been given a conditional offer of employment.
A final offer of employment is contingent upon passing the background check and verification of the prospective employee’s vaccination status and/or approval of reasonable accommodation.

Other Information
This position is exempt from the civil service and temporary in nature. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered as “at-will,” which means that you may be discharged from your employment at the prerogative of your department head or designee at any time.
