Non-Tenure Track Visiting Assistant Professor of Acting

Job Summary:
Western Oregon University seeks a (.75 -1.0) professor of acting for a one-year initial appointment (with the potential for renewal) to teach classes as part of a BA/BS and a BFA acting curriculum, as well as direct one main stage production annually. The successful candidate may also be granted reassignment time to audition prospective students, evaluate BFA acting students at conferences, and attend state and/or national conferences to recruit for the program.
Minimum Qualifications:
● MFA in Acting/Performance
● Professional Acting and Teaching experience
● Directing on the professional and/or university level
Preferred Qualifications:
● 2-3 years of college-level teaching (or equivalent)
● The ability to teach stage combat, intimacy coaching, Introduction to Film, Devising
● Experience teaching the following required classes:
○ Introduction to Theatre
○ Elements of Acting (for non-majors)
○ Play Reading
○ Acting I
○ Acting II
● Experience teaching the following preferred classes:
○ Speech I (IPA preferred)
○ Voice I and Voice II (modern methodology)
○ Acting for the Camera I & II
○ Period Styles–Restoration and Manners
○ Contemporary Audition
