General Overview:
Honest Assembly Garage is a boutique automotive shop specializing in modifying, tuning and maintaining high-end performance Porsches, BMW’s, and other models frequently used on track in Global Time Attack, SCCA, NASA, and BMW/Porsche club events. Our customers are referral only and we do not accept walk-ins.
We are looking for candidates with Porsche and BMW maintenance experience, performance and race experience is a plus. The primary attributes we desire are for candidates to be very detail oriented, have a strong work ethic, display open mindedness, and a willingness to learn.
If you have professional mechanical experience and would like the opportunity to work on high end street cars, track cars, and dedicated race cars, we’d like to interview you. We are looking for a technician with experience in this area, who is comfortable and capable of performing a wide variety of tasks while remaining detail-oriented and showing the utmost care. This is an open-shop environment, you will frequently interface directly with customers and must be able to explain how and why you are performing a task on their vehicle. Our customer car relationships are as caretakers not just technicians. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in high-performance vehicle chassis setup, and is able to help customers make informed decisions about purchasing parts. Candidates must be willing and able to work in a high-pressure environment, handling high-value vehicles and components. All of our customers come from referrals or word of mouth and expect the best treatment of their cars.
Common tasks include:
Expectation of Quality:
We maintain an extremely high quality of work, candidates must be able to conform to these standards and show immaculate attention to detail and care when working on customer vehicles. We treat every vehicle that comes in the door as if it were our own, and take care of them the way we would wish our vehicles to be taken care of. The focus is on quality, not speed or volume of jobs. However, if a job is going to take more than the book time or exceed the expectation given to the customer, you must be able to communicate this clearly to the customer ahead of time in a way that is easy to understand.
Operations:
In general, your daily tasks will include performing parts installation or maintenance on customer vehicles, and consultation with customers about their needs. You are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of your work area. You will be in direct contact with customers and parts suppliers to determine necessary parts and order them for vehicles that are scheduled for servicing.
We provide in-person support to our customers at the racetrack. This includes changing and torquing wheels, checking tire pressures, making suspension adjustments, bleeding brakes and changing brake pads. This helps to build relationships with customers and guarantee future work. Generally, you will be at an event every once a month during the April-November track season. These are usually very low key and low stress events based around customer happiness.
You may be required to perform work on the long-term restoration projects in the shop. This includes basic fabrication such as drilling or cutting metal, building and dressing engines, disassembly or reassembly of vehicles, and final fitment of body panels and interior components. This is usually an on-the-fly situation due to long delays in restoration parts procurement, so the ability to quickly switch between and handle multiple tasks at once is a must.
Requirements:

Hours are very flexible to accommodate needs as long as customer expectations are met. We generally work from 9am-6pm with a 1 hour lunch break, but coming in early or staying late within reason is acceptable when clearly communicated and when it does not affect customer car completion times.
Our payment structure is straight salary with opportunities for performance bonuses. Experience and skill level will dictate the base rate and performance incentives.
