Basic Purpose
Promotes company goals and objectives by developing relationships with federal, state, and local government officials, interest groups, and government strategy opinion leaders. Responsibilities include: assisting in the development and implementation of strategies for promoting company positions before governmental agencies; representing the company at hearings and other public meetings as requested.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Promotes Company goals and objectives by developing and strengthening relationships with federal, state, and local officials, interest groups, and government strategy opinion leaders.
Monitors and analyzes proposed or pending state legislation, local government ordinances, and governmental activity, and informs internal company subject matter experts and leaders on impact to company operations. 20%
Develops talking points and position papers to explain and analyze government issues.
Assists in the development of issue and tactical strategies with internal colleagues, lobby team and external associations and coalitions.
Assists in planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the department’s local government contract lobbyists. Responsible for assisting with research, tracking and analysis of state legislative issues.
Works diligently to implement strategies to achieve the company’s state, local, federal, government, legislative, and regulatory objectives.
Develops a working knowledge of regulation and regulated industries sufficient to understand and contribute to the development of legislative plans. Develops and maintains content for department intranet side and leads on employee engagement efforts.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Business, Communications or a related field from an accredited school and 3 years of related work experiences.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:
External business environment, laws, political climate, the Company’s strategies, policies, practices, procedures, and the social climates where the Company operates
Company policy, procedures, practices, and in-depth familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local law and regulations.
Demonstrated skills such as:
Oral presentation, listening, and communication
Interpersonal including establishing trust, maintaining confidence, understanding and influencing behavior in diverse social and business situations, negotiate acceptable solutions, provide leadership for Company positions, and influence outcomes through.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Compensation
Annual Salary: $66,600 (Min) to $81,200 (Mid); Up to 10% Short Term Incentive Plan opportunity at the discretion of the company.
