Kansas Department of Revenue – Refunds/Distribution Accountant
Full-Time/Benefits Eligible – M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Summary: This position audits and approves all refund vouchers for appropriate use of funding, correct account codes, and compliance with established accounting procedures. Instructs/trains refund preparers. Prepares billings or interfunds for reimbursement of expenditures and deposits of funds. Duties require utilization of a variety of computer software, calculator, and on-line interaction with the statewide accounting system. This position needs to be familiar with the policy and procedures established by the Department of Administration. Assists, or when necessary, provides back-up support for associates within the Revenue Accounting area.
Qualifications:
Education: Prefer a four year degree in Business or other related field.
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Experience: Above average knowledge of multiple tax types and the related applicable laws, rules and regulations. General knowledge of computers, the internet (browser settings, etc.) and methods of moving and editing data. Above average knowledge in accounts receivable and financial accounting. Ability to effectively communicate and maintain positive working relationships with State agency personnel and accountants.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: KBI and FBI fingerprint required due to access to Federal Tax Information files in KDOR systems.
