Our partner teams support, evangelize, and improve our games. Blizzard human resources (HR) is a key partner to the team in supporting our employees and business units on a global scale.
We are currently looking for an expert and creative Director, Human Resources to join our HR team in Irvine, CA. This role will be an HR business and thought partner to the World of Warcraft (WoW) Development team, which is home more than 500 employees focused on creating the best MMO in the industry. Reporting to the Franchise People Officer, this person will partner with the WoW team driving strategic HR work and initiatives across the enterprise.
What You’ll Do
Serves as a strategic advisor, senior human capital expert and thought partner to the WoW leadership team regarding key talent strategies, HR initiatives and issues
Establish and implement HR plans that effectively communicate and support the company’s core values, vision, and overall strategic objectives while paying attention to the impact on employees
Lead, facilitate and optimize the delivery of consistently excellent HR services in the areas of on-boarding, employee communications, organizational development, training, performance management, employee relations, benefits, compensation, compliance, and mentoring
Strengthen team cohesion and develop leaders
Enthusiastically identify problem areas and propose solutions, both within the WoW team and within HR as a whole
Define and support diversity and inclusion efforts within the WoW team and across Blizzard
Use data and analytics to assess and define the talent needs across the organization
Support the team’s employee engagement efforts by helping define and drive action plans
Provide mentoring to management and employees to resolve conflicts, improve team efficiency, and ensure support of organizational changes and business plans
Implement human resources policies and guarantee adherence with legal regulations
Participate in strategy sessions with the HR team on policy and HR practices
Ensure HR transactional needs are met for the team
Requirements
A minimum of 10 years’ dynamic HR business partner / talent partner experience
A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience as a senior HR leader running a developing a team
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Shown success leading the organization of people managers on the transformation journey
Demonstrable track record leading, and delivering high quality HR services across all teams to all levels of employees (senior management, first level managers and line level employees)
Valued teammate who builds reciprocal relationships with HR specialist teams (talent acquisition, compensation, HR operations, etc.) and business partners
Shown success applying employee attraction, engagement, and retention strategies
Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal)
High degree of business insight; results oriented with an ability to work independently
Able to excel in a constantly evolving environment using a high-reaching mentality
Self-starter, highly motivated and achievement oriented
Able to maintain a strict code of confidentiality and discretion
Advantages
Advanced degree (Masters, etc.) in related fields
Human resources experience in an entertainment, gaming or technology company
SPHR certification for California
Experience in Workday, established competency in Excel and PowerPoint
Proven background in California employment laws
