JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the HR Manager, the Benefits Supervisor is responsible for the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. Manages and oversees leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.
JOB DUTIES
Ensures that benefit plans are administered in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, ERISA, DOL, ACA
Oversees a team of Benefits Specialists and Coordinators Manages and monitors all leave processes including FMLA, PFMLA, ADA, Maternity, STD, and LTD, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting
Processes and administers all escalated leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, FMLA, and PFMLA
Effectively interprets FMLA. PFMLA, and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities
Recommends revisions to company leave policies to guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Leads annual open enrollment process to ensure successful education and completion
Manages communication efforts and tools for managers and employees to be well informed of their benefits
Works with benefits vendors to troubleshoot issues impacting the company and employees
Oversees success and troubleshooting of vendor data integrations, both incoming and outgoing
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information
Confirms benefit deductions are accurately captured and benefits invoices are correctly reconciled
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
QUALIFICATIONS
Five years’ experience in Human Resources in benefits or leave management, with a minimum of two years’ experience in ADA/interactive process administration
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws in multi-state settings
Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws
Workday experience highly preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours, if needed, to meet the job requirements
If remote, must have sufficient internet speeds and office set-up to effectively perform the functions of the job
The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
