Poly-Med, Inc Hiring for HR Specialist – Legal at Anderson, SC Full Time

The HR Specialist – Paralegal is responsible for providing support in the preparation, filing, and tracking of legal documents, maintenance of patent docket, as well as other HR and administrative duties critical to the management of the corporate office.

Responsibilities for the Role:

• Administrative: Answer telephone calls and screen to appropriate individual. Perform general administrative tasks such as organizing, filing, data entry, typing, creating presentations. Visitor management – communications around safety training, NDA, issuing badge. Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Paralegal: Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for prosecuting patent applications in-house. Generates patent docket and patent status reports as directed by management. Prepares, reviews, revises, and redlines patent applications and other legal documents as directed by management, manages communications with law firms used for patent services. Interfaces with inventors in processing invention disclosures, patent awards and responding to status queries. Assist in the development and implementation of new methods for organizing and tracking legal documentation. Prepare for and organize regular meetings to track legal matters (i.e. billing questions, IP matters, items that need approval, next steps) Maintain accurate and current data in contract, patent, and IP billing systems. Oversight and reminder functions for the patent and trademark dockets. Review and approve legal costs and expenses. Prepare and circulate patent legal documents for execution. Prepare and circulate agreement documents, such as Agreements and Non-Disclosure Agreements. Maintain and monitor Agreements docket. Perform other duties as assigned.
• HR: Design and coordinate processes in assigned specialty HR area (i.e. benefits, evaluations, training, and/or other HR areas). Responsible for reporting status of projects/tasks in assigned speciality HR area. Plans and executes tasks/projects in a timely manner. Keeps relevant employee records up to date in relevant HR or Corporate system. Lives our core values through excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership. Primary contact for employee support for specialty area and clearly and effectively communicates with other areas while respecting time available for those discussions.

Preferable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for the Role:

• Coursework in the STEM field.
• Experience in payroll (not necessary)

Education/Experience Requirements for the Biomaterials/Design Engineer:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Years of Experience: 2-3 years’ relevant professional work experience, legal experience and HR experience (i.e. payroll, benefits administration, etc.)

This position is in a production environment where the use of personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes are mandated. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; some exposure to changes in temperature, noise, dust, and chemicals.
