Our mission is to reverse climate change and return the atmosphere to 280 ppm CO₂. We convert waste biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil and inject it into permanent, underground storage as carbon removal, or reform the bio-oil to produce syngas for fossil-free steel.
Last year, our carbon removal pathway took off with support from customers like Stripe, Shopify & Microsoft, and we deployed our first mobile pyrolyzer. In the next 18 months, we’ll build and deploy the next pyrolyzer revision, demonstrate our fossil-free syngas pilot, substantially expand our operations in the Midwest and put more than 1,000 tonnes of CO₂e underground.

Charm is one of the leading permanent carbon dioxide removal companies, and our continued scale-up will require us to grow our team dramatically in the years ahead. We are looking for a Head of People to drive our recruiting, talent development, and human resources efforts. Carbon removal is so nascent that there is effectively no one with experience in the field, but to keep the climate below 1.5°C, IPCC models require the industry to grow to 10,000,000,000 tons CO₂ removal by 2050. This represents 70% year over year growth for the next 27 years, twice as fast as software. We will need to bring in talent from many other industries and universities, have a strong focus on talent development, and champion the climate tech industry as a whole.
This role will report to our CEO, be a member of our leadership team, and initially oversee a small team of recruiters, recruiting coordinators, HR generalists, office managers and external coaches.
The ideal candidate is world-class at recruiting and talent development. Experience with companies designing and building new hardware internally is a requirement. Experience with hourly manufacturing/ field operations labor is highly desirable.
This role is located at either our San Francisco, CA Minifactory or our Fort Lupton, CO Miniforge, and is not open for remote work.
