Physical activities include: balancing, finger dexterity, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stopping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, wiping, bending, lifting, repetitive motions and frequent washing of hands.
Essential sensory and communicative activities include: feeling, seeing, speaking, hearing, smelling, and tasting.
Job Description Summary:
Read, setup and understand resident meal tray cards.
Recognize basic signs of resident distress when eating, i.e., choking, loss of consciousness. Take initial emergency steps when such circumstances are present.
Understand the process of changing a resident diet order and direct these requests to the Dining Room Supervisor.
Operate dish machine and equipment safely.
Assist in tray line assembly. Assist in the serving of resident meals in all dining areas including the ability to receive preference change requests from residents and to direct these requests where needed for processing.
Prepare food as assigned according to established procedures and systems.
Clean areas as assigned. Assist in maintaining preparation and service area in sanitary condition.
Clean floors, sweep and mop. Clean equipment used.
Deliver and pick up food carts to/from resident areas. Push or pull food carts or dish racks as needed.
Lift and remove garbage from containers to discard. Empty garbage to dumpster areas and sanitize garbage containers.
Stand for prolonged periods of time during meal services to residents and staff. Walk long distances to deliver food items or food carts to units as needed.
Lift, carry and transfer heavy food containers using proper body mechanics. Assist in unloading of stock, labeling, dating and rotating of stock.
Utilize personal protective equipment (ex. pot holders, tongs, oven gloves, goggles, aprons, etc.) as instructed for safety.
Reach above head to retrieve or stack needed equipment that must be stored on shelves. Perform tasks involving repetitive motion such as stacking, mopping or sweeping the floor.
Perform manual electronic data entry.
Adhere to infection control procedures as trained.
