About the Opportunity.
The HR Specialist will be responsible for a wide spectrum of duties in direct support of employees in a 24/7 work environment. This includes managing the plant’s Human Resources information system and benefits administration programs to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and practices as well as government regulations. This position will assist the Human Resources Manager in labor relations, salary administration, talent development and recruiting for the hourly and salaried employees.
Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities :
Assist Human Resource Manager with all aspects of labor relations including preparation, presentation, meetings, grievances, performance management, payroll issues, etc
Counsel employees on policies and procedures to ensure correct and consistent interpretation
Prepare and present orientation program for benefits, union agreement, company policies, etc
Provide benefit information to employees
Sponsor wellness committee and associated initiatives
Recruiting and hiring of hourly workforce based on approved positions
Administrator for HR System
Manage the maintenance of hourly and salaried personnel records
Assist with training programs
Coordinate the plant’s annual United Way campaign
Plan and coordinate activities associated with employee relations activities including but not limited to, picnics, Christmas parties, quarterly employee meetings, service awards, retirement recognition, etc
Sponsor and promote a safe work environment
Follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper
Minimum Occupational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or Certificate in Human Resources Management, preferred
Five years of previous experience in Human Resources specifically in the benefit administration field
Experience with ADP Vantage HCM, and Kronos experience, a plus
Must possess a high degree of professionalism in handling confidential information
Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, required
Outstanding written and oral communication skills required, well as teamwork skills
Fluent written and spoken English
Ability to relate well to all employees and levels of management
Highly organized with high degree of attention to detail
Excellent time-management and interpersonal skills
