Essential Functions:
This position provides management-level human resources staff work with managerial responsibility for all aspects of Employee Relations and Compliance for the Maryland Judiciary Human Resources Division (JHRD). In addition, this position serves as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Officer and ADA subject matter expert. Manages a staff of professionals, and manages and performs duties such as, but not limited to: employer/employee relations’ activities; Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests; performance management program; employee assistance program (EAP); state medical director referrals; leave bank program; unemployment insurance matters; worker’s compensation matters; Americans with Disability Act (ADA) matters for employees and public users; JHRD policy development, interpretation and compliance; ensure compliance with all Federal and State employment laws; develop employee relations strategies through organizational development practices. Recommend key performance indicators for Employee Relations and Compliance and implement assessment and metrics for goals and objectives.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four (4) years of professional human resources experience in the area of employer/employee relations and two (2) years supervising or managing staff.
Note: Professional human resources experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
