The Tulare Animal Services Sheltering Facility is an open admissions shelter serving the community of Tulare and other contract cities. The shelter is open Mondays 10;00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The shelter takes in stray, injured, sick, vicious, biting and surrendered animals from the public and field services. During the animals stay at the shelter, staff, provides humane care, exercise, and assessments in attempts to find permanent placement for adoptable animals. The shelter has veterinarian oversight to ensure the animal’s medical needs are met. All animal licensing for rabies control is processed out of the shelter. The shelter is staffed by an Animal Licensing Technician, Intake Officer, Kennel Technicians, and volunteers who assist daily.
WRITTEN EXAM
If you meet the minimum qualifications for the position you will be invited to advance to the written exam phase.
The written examination will be administered on the afternoon of: FRIDAY, MAY 19th. The exam (multiple choice format) will be comprised of the following content areas:

INTERVIEW:
Applicants that achieve a passing score of 70% or greater on the written exam will be invited to participate in our interview process.

Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in handling animals. One year of experience in the care and handling of animals and dealing with the public. One year of experience in law enforcement related field or currently employed as an Animal Control Worker or as an Animal Control Officer.

Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 75 lbs.; exposure to extreme noise, noxious odor and outdoors; ability to travel to different sites and locations.
