Examples of Work
Provide customer service at the State Personnel and Department of Administrative Services front desk by responding to in-person visitors, phone calls and emails and providing helpful directions. Assist with talent acquisition functions including posting jobs, reviewing applications, and maintaining information in our applicant tracking system. Support the State of Nebraska’s temporary program by scheduling and conducting interviews, completing background checks and facilitating new hire paperwork. Complete various administrative tasks in support of the State Personnel team, such as E-Verify, Veterans’ Preference verification, paperwork coordination, and database entry. Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: One year of coursework or training in personnel management, business administration, public administration or office/administrative or two years of related experience.
PREFERRED: Strong customer service background.
OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance is required for this position.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of: human resources procedures.
Skill in providing excellent customer service; effective communication; organizing information; and working with detailed processes.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; work independently as well as in a team environment and relate to people of varying experience and backgrounds; prioritize work and handle numerous tasks with ease and accuracy; learn applicable labor contracts, rules/regulations, policies and procedures to provide information to teammates, leaders and the general public; use various computer applications including Microsoft Office and electronic databases; and use multi-line phone system. Must be reliable, responsible and dependable to job obligations with a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
