The Software Manager is responsible for leading, establishing, and delivering software development actions and outputs on time per core team milestones. This individual will lead interdependencies with core development and software team members, partner with cross-functions to complete program actions, and navigate/mitigate program risks related to software development within the Diabetes Operating Units. You are both a people leader and a technical leader who will expand our engineering competencies, grow execution scale. Your team includes Full time and contract personnel in our Mounds View, Minnesota development center, along with remote teams in other geographies.

A Day in the Life

• Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop, and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of software products, processes, and therapies.
• Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing software projects and serves as liaison between the core team, project team(s), and functional software management.
• Manages the development and Implementation of software process involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing software products and processes.
• Manages status of software projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
• Lead and mentor our software engineering group to achieve strong organizational performance, grow and manage individual talent, and advance our technology strategy.
• Define and track weekly work goals, managing engineer’s activities and priorities to meet expectations.
• Report work goals to management and identify impact on overall project schedule.
• Monitors the software project from initiation through delivery
• Is a key partner for Sr Management in coaching and trainings technical resources.
• Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
• Develops mechanisms for monitoring progress and for intervention and problem solving with project/technical leads, functional software managers, and internal stakeholders.
• Reviews requirements, facilitates requirements planning, requirements elicitation, and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project’s key stakeholders.
• Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.
• Manages day-to-day software project activities, ensuring program objectives and milestones are delivered on-time and within budget.
• Identifies and remove barriers for the software project team through execution.
• Ensure appropriate departmental resources are assigned to the software program/project and are available to effectively maintain the quality system (people, facilities, tools, and training).
• Ensures the software project/program complies with all aspects of the quality policy/system.
• Problems and issues faced can be complex, difficult, and undefined requiring detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand the problem.
• Other responsibilities, as required and assigned.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have

3+ years coordinating development processes and/or projects for Embedded or mobile software
Experience working within medical device product development, or other highly regulated environment.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certificiation.
Experience working within an agile development framework.
Highly developed skill set in management/project leadership practices including ability to balance risk, effectively influence diverse teams, and ownership of responsibility for outcomes.
Excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills.
Good balance of high level strategic and detailed tactical thought processes.
