Position Summary:
Provides clerical support and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider or a Nurse. Performs specific clerical duties, coordinates departmental communications and provides administrative support to Management Team.
Performs Patient Care tasks as directed by Nurse or Provider. Demonstrates the skills and knowledge to support the accurate data collection and documentation of financial and demographic information. Participates as a Team Member, communicating respect for the patient, family, clients and other members of the Care Team. Contributes to the Management of the department by assuming specific support functions, including administrative support for patient accounts. Maintains the patient medical record, departmental records and client files.

Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Completion of Medical Assistant certification course
Basic knowledge of governmental and managed care programs
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Experience in an outpatient health facility or physician’s office for a minimum of two (2) years
Demonstrates ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm
Ten-key by touch and must be computer literate
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
Medical Assistant Certificate
Current AHA BLS
Physical Demands:
Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
Lifts, positions, pushes up to 50 pounds
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Manual dexterity and mobility
Ability to move quickly
Frequent reach, twist, push and pull
Vision Requirements:
Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform duties
Working Conditions:
Regularly exposed to the risk of contagious and blood borne diseases
Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)
Subject to irregular hours
Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries
Occasional exposure to radiation hazards, radioactive substances and biohazard material
