Summary:
Staff Accountant provides support to the Director of Finance. This position assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded. This role ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. The Staff Accountant compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit, and loss statements, and other financial ports.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares journal entries; maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts.
- Prepares bank statements.
- Prepares organizational invoices for federal contracts and grants.
- Provides records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.
- Maintains receipts and disbursement reports.
- May interpret reports and records for managers.
- May prepare state and local tax returns on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Ensures accuracy and compliance with all accounting regulations.
- Assists and produces records for the various audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent training.
- 3-5 years relevant experience
- Experience with financial statements and reporting preparations.
- Must possess mid to advanced level MS Excel skills; proficient with pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Proficient with accounting software packages with Quickbooks Online experience being preferred.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Successful at multitasking
- Works well in a fast-paced environment
- Works well both independently and in a team
- Professionally handles confidential information
- Must live in Washington State
