Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our primary care office in Livingston. This role involves preparing for patient procedures, organizing medications, updating electronic medical records (EMR), and triaging phone calls. You will function as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians, ensuring efficient patient flow and proper preparation for patient visits.
Responsibilities
+ Check daily schedule for patient volume.
+ Prepare for patient procedures.
+ Organize medications for doctors to administer.
+ Update EMR and prescription refills.
+ Review patient cases and questions.
+ Manually take blood pressure.
+ Triage phone calls.
+ Prepare buckets and patient files.
+ Employ appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
+ Maintain efficient patient flow.
+ Assure all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.
+ Ensure proper preparation for patient visits.
+ Provide referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
+ Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
+ Collect lab specimens according to departmental guidelines and accurately label specimens.
+ Obtain vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately and completely as required.
+ Demonstrate telephone triage protocols and document in EHR.
+ Schedule appointments appropriately and accurately according to department guidelines.
+ Review and update medication list in EHR, demonstrating understanding of prescription control and refill procedures.
+ Accurately and completely document known allergies in EHR.
+ Enter orders and schedule appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 3 years of experience in primary care or hospital setting.
+
Experience with EMR systems (Athena or Epic preferred).
+ Associates degree required, BS preferred.
+ NJ State Nursing License.
+ Active BLS certification.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in outpatient, primary care, or hospital facilities.
+ Strong patient care skills.
Work Environment
This position involves 95% administrative work and 5% clinical work. Responsibilities include triage, bucket updates, updating EMR, checking in patients, and quick revisit clinical work. The office operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional weekend coverage. The role is initially a contract position with the potential to become permanent after 6 months. The office has a high volume of Medicare patients and a fast-paced environment.
Physical requirements include pushing, pulling, lifting heavy objects, physical mobility, dexterity, balance, and endurance for prolonged standing, bending, and walking. The team consists of 1 LPN, 1 RN, and 7 MAs, managing 8-10K patients over the course of the year.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 – $45.00
