We look like Agency, but Agencies don’t look like us. If you work with us, don’t expect long, punishing hours without being paid. Or having to sneak around to work on passion projects. Or feeling guilty about leaving work to go home and let a repair person in. That’s not us. And we feel confident enough to state that publicly and be held accountable. It’s the culture we’ve created. What we want in return is highly motivated, talented people to be part of our team. If this sounds interesting, then we suggest you keep reading.
But this isn’t a one-way street. We’re not transactional. Just as we expect you to push yourself, we need to deliver. That’s why our culture and environment is so incredibly crucial to your well-being. We’re value driven and we hope as you’re looking for your next gig you are detailed, diligent, and critical. Because that speaks volumes of who you are, what you value, and why you’d be a good fit with us.
Our values
– Time – Work doesn’t define us, even if we put our heart and soul into it every day. It’s part of a bigger picture, and we’re conscious of that. So no, we don’t burn the midnight oil. But we also don’t take time for granted. What you do outside of work to recharge is just as important as what you bring every day. Time is crucial.
– Wellbeing – Physical and emotional health are necessary for our line of work. We expect you take the time you need to be your best self. We know this world has huge emotional swings, both good and bad. The only way we get to what we do is by being the best version of our self.
What we’re looking for: Someone who emphatically loves what they do and is willing to push themselves every day to be better than the last. Agencies like Squid don’t survive off complacency, we take big swings and challenge to be part of the conversation every day. If you’re applying to this post, we know you’re creative. What we’re looking for is how you apply insights, balance the line between “what the client wants” to “what the client needs”, and ultimately creating powerful work. That takes someone who’s:
– Well researched and studied and hungry to always be learning
– Can adapt to different styles and lean on inspiration from anywhere
– Finessed, polished but not afraid to get their hands dirty with the team when needed
Our clients are all over. From beverages to indoor house plants, financial services, to non-profits, we’re industry agnostic. Check out who we’ve worked with here – https://agencysquid.com/portfolio/
Our culture is one of supporting collaboration. Everyone is a creative problem solver. We encourage outside gigs. Current team members have a golf accessories company, a CBD company, an Italian linen company, an automotive apparel company and we’re working together to help launch others. We built a brand new space that opened its industrial garage doors this winter. The agency is open and modular, full of natural light, conference rooms, and comfortable collaborative areas. There’s plenty of running room for the office dogs – as well as video/photo production areas for whatever you can dream up.
We offer performance advancement, raises and bonuses based on company and employee mutually agreed upon performance metrics. We provide a monthly stipend of $250/month for health/dental and are currently evaluating the best way to deliver these benefits. Time Off? Not institutionalized. Mental and creative health are critical to us and our clients so, within reason of course, take the time you need just and with enough notice to cover responsibilities. Salary is industry competitive and commensurate to background and experience.
Your background includes:
– Well versed in the Adobe suite and believe Canva is the devil
– Understand Figman/Invision/Sketch for web projects
– A strong portfolio of diverse, thought-provoking work
– Ability to work in an agile work environment
– Strategic at your core with the creative chops to express ideas
– Handle several projects at once and work within a team
– Confident in your abilities to rationalize and educate on what informed your design thinking
Nice to have:
– Competitive (an athlete in a past life or you just hate losing – mention this in your outreach and we’re sure to be interested)
– Comfortable in your own skin and unapologetic for you who are, what you bring, and how you can make us better.
– Willingness to learn new skills (maybe you want to get into print product or start your own business – both cool by us).
– Desire to research design trends in your downtime to keep current with what’s happening across the globe.
