The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Airport Bike Patrol position. This position patrols multiple leveled parking garages and surface parking areas utilizing a multi-geared bicycle, towing abandoned vehicles, traffic control, and enforcement of TNC and Commercial vehicle areas. Reconciles and prepares cash deposit slips and performs other functions supporting the parking operations of the airport.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or be extended as needed by Human Resources.
Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.
Equivalent to graduation from high school, and six months of full-time experience in bike patrol, security or transportation related duties, AND six months of full-time customer service experience which included regular cashiering or handling monies received from the public. Must successfully complete in-house training and probationary period of up to 12 months.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License at time of hire.
Working Conditions: Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. May work in a confined toll-booth setting. Work with exposure to heavy traffic and potentially hazardous emissions and fumes.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers’ license laws within 90 days of employment.
Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID’s upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID’s include a Passport, Driver’s License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
Dexterity and mobility to ride a multi-geared bicycle for extended periods of time, use standard office equipment, hand held computers, and a computerized cashiering terminal; mobility to drive a motor vehicle in order to inspect parking facilities; vision to read printed materials, license plates and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
Patrols parking facilities in on a multi-geared bicycle or in a vehicle to provide enhanced security and to assist patrons; provides jump-starts to non-operable vehicles as required. Provides information to patrons regarding surface streets, directions to specific locations and similar details; and acts in a responsible manner to resolve conflicts and/or handle unusual situations. Responds to walkway problems; performs minor maintenance on walkways. May perform minor repairs and maintenance of parking meters. Responds to security calls such as unattended bags, emergency call stations, AED alarms and any customer related safety or security needs. Issues citations and/or warnings for expired meter parking; notices of infraction to inappropriately parked vehicles; removes abandoned vehicles from airport property. Performs visual check of AVI equipment and decals, and issues citations as necessary. Scans AVI transponders using a handheld device and issues citations for non-working equipment. Uses a hand-held computer to survey and record licenses of vehicles remaining in the facility (license plate inventory). Directs traffic in and out of parking staging, loading and unloading areas to relieve congestion, including assigned posted position(s) for extended periods of time; handles overflow parking to resolve airport capacity problems. Responds to emergency situations and/or automobile accidents in parking areas; summons help and controls scene until arrival of proper authority. Coordinates, monitors and controls transportation network company staging and loading areas. May be assigned to work in toll collection booth, collecting parking tickets from patrons, calculating appropriate fee using a computerized cashiering terminal, receiving monies and making change. Collects money from and replenishes change machines. Processes charge and check payment transactions, reconciles daily receipts and report discrepancies. Following established procedures, may handle unusual transactions such as insufficient funds, mutilated, blank, unreadable or lost tickets, complimentary or non-revenue transactions, stolen or void tickets and similar situations. May record the license number of vehicles leaving the facility. Prepares standard reports of vehicle license updates and exceptions using automated equipment. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Performs ancillary work such as assisting in the parking decal office, restocking the tollbooth with supplies, and serving as control desk monitor. Uses standard office equipment, plus computerized cashiering equipment; drives a motor vehicle to patrol parking facilities and provides customer assistance. Completes special projects, including handling barricades, sand bags, cones, supplies, etc.
