Summary of Responsibilities:
The Human Resource Director oversees the functions of the HR Department, including
Recruitment
Onboarding
Benefits administration,
Performance management
Legal and safety compliance
Workers compensation
Policy implementation
Employment changes
Retention and separations.
Supervises two Human Resource Generalists and works closely with the HR/Payroll consulting company.
The Human Resource Director is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing throughout the agency to meet the needs of children and families served in a cost effective and efficient manner. The Human Resource Director oversees recruitment and retention activities to increase morale, limit turnover, increase retention, and ensure sufficient volume of quality applicants for vacancies. The Human Resource Director oversees the implementation of all of the agency’s benefit programs and recommends changes to better serve the agency population and/or the organizational budget.
The Human Resource Director ensures that AK Child & Family maintains an employment and human resource system that is consistent with all applicable statutory and regulatory guidelines; and manages the oversite, training and implementation of the HRIS and new applicant tracking module. The Human Resource Director works closely with the agency’s HR/Payroll consulting company and serves as a liaison between the staff and the consultant.
The Human Resource Director analyzes employee demographics and data and recommends changes to ensure AK Child & Family attracts the highest caliber employees. The Human Resource Director develops and maintains employee feedback tools, develops trainings, mentoring and professional growth opportunities for AK Child & Family employees. The Human Resource Director works closely with the Training Department to ensure the onboarding process, including orientation, is meeting agency needs and is completed in a timely manner.
The Human Resource Director oversees the maintenance of personnel records to meet licensing and accreditation standards, and that demonstrate the agency’s positive commitment to equal opportunity and to professional growth and development. The Human Resource Director is in charge of working with supervisors to communicate and track disciplinary issues and is a resource for employees to communicate personnel issues. The Human Resource Director—in conjunction with necessary leadership—manages, records and investigates internal incident reports in accordance with agency policy.
The Human Resource Director is a member of the agency’s Sanctuary Core Team and is a key player in the implementation of the Sanctuary Model of trauma informed care agency wide. The Human Resource Director edits, updates and writes agency policies in accordance with Sanctuary Standards as needed. The Human Resource Director is expected to attend applicable trainings to stay on top of HR trends and applicable laws. The Human Resource Director is expected to be a consultant for the entire leadership team and should serve as a resource for the latest developments in organizational development and strategic management.

All employees with AK Child & Family are required to be in compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid COVID vaccine mandate. The mandate requires that by 2/14/22, staff at all health care facilities must have received their first dose of a 2-shot series (Moderna or Pfizer, currently) or a single dose of a 1-shot vaccine (Johnson and Johnson, currently) with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate. Staff must complete this step before they can provide any care, treatment or other services for the facility and/or its patients. By 3/15/22, all staff with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate, must complete the primary vaccination series.

PAY:
$85,000 DOE
Bonus in the amount of 1.5% of annual salary after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period and another at the 1-year anniversary
Annual raises are based on the annual budget and not guaranteed each year
Supervision and Coordination of Services:
The Human Resource Director is supervised by the Chief Executive Officer and works collaboratively with all departments and external contacts.
The Human Resource Director is required to collaborate frequently with the Payroll Department and Training Department
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Human Resource Director demonstrates strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to successfully administer and direct human resource development activities throughout the agency.
S/he is knowledgeable in the areas of recruitment, personnel law, EEOC requirements, and benefits administration.
The Human Resource Manger demonstrates written and oral communication skills, as well as experience with evaluation programs.
The ability to assess programmatic needs and trends, and then implement positive change effectively is essential.
The Human Manager has sufficient understanding of not-for-profit workplaces and mental health workplaces, preferably those that treat children and youth.
The Human Resource Director is expected to have a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Education and experience:
The Human Resource Director is at least twenty-one years of age and holds at least a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Social Services or a related field.
Five years of HR experience and leadership experience preferred.
Three years of HR experience with at least one year proven leadership experience required.
Experience working in a treatment facility either directly with children or in an administrative capacity preferred.
Experience in hiring and recruiting preferred.
Physical Demands:
Physical Demands upon the Human Resource Director include:
The ability to generate reports and successfully operate word processing and computer equipment
The ability to utilize their personal vehicle to attend to responsibilities on both campuses, attend meetings in person or via teleconference
Represent AK Child & Family in the community.
They must also have the ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, within the agency and throughout the community.
