The Logistician/Buyer is responsible for executing logistics and procurement activities.

Responsibilities:

• Proposal support.

• Supplier identification and solicitation.

• Source selection.

• Placement of purchase order awards.

• Post award administration of low to moderate dollar value transactions for various programs in Akima and its family of companies.

• The Logistician/Buyer will also manage the entire order cycle so as to enhance business operations and ensure sustainability and customer satisfaction.

• Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
• Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience sourcing and purchasing aviation parts and equipment.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Thorough understanding of FAR/DFAR and agency specific regulations, such as FAA.
• Basic understanding and experience with price analysis methodologies.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Intermediate proficiency of Sharepoint.
• Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.

Essential Duties:

• Sources and purchases parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
• Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
• Compiles information to keep management informed on price trends.
• Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers’ operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
• Prepares bid packages.
• Reviews quotes/proposals, negotiates prices and terms, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends.
• Performs and documents price analyses.
• Creates and issues purchase orders from ERP system, including the development of government, agency and quality flowdowns.
• Follows up on orders placed (expediting), verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary rec.ords.
• Maintains purchasing documentation and files in accordance with corporate policies and FAR/DFAR.
• Provides procurement support for proposal efforts as required.
• Research ideal shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
• Works with other departments to incorporate logistics with company procedures and operations.
• Evaluate budgets and expenditures.
• Update and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements.
• Ensure all operations adhere to laws, guidelines, and ISO requirements.
• Plans and monitors inbound and outbound deliveries.
• Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.
• Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets.
• Direct, optimize and coordinate the full order cycle.

• 2 years purchasing in a CPSR environment
• Experience using Costpoint 7 or 7.1.1
