ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, recommends, and implements plans and policies that support the organization’s strategic plan, which may include health and welfare programs, retirement plans, disability, etc.
Ensures plans are optimized for employees with the lowest cost.
Leads all aspects of the annual open enrollment process, including coordinating resources to prepare employee communication materials.
Works collaboratively with payroll to ensure benefit payments, deductions and contributions are processed timely and accurately.
Perform ongoing benefit program analyses of plan design, participation, cost-effectiveness, and ROI to determine potential future revisions or enhancements.
Develop strong relationships with health and welfare brokers, advisors, TPA’s, insurance carriers, and other 3rd party benefit vendors.
Ensure that vendors are providing frequent reporting to confirm effectiveness/ROI and foster continuous improvements.
Work collaboratively with the internal Compensation Committee to finalize new and/or review existing vendor contracts at least annually.
Periodically market available benefit vendors and services, to ensure AmesburyTruth is partnered with the best players and maximizing efficiencies/ROI.
Assist with company policy creation, maintenance, enforcement, and education to employees.
Keep abreast of applicable laws and ensure regulatory compliance.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Strong proven track record in benefits.
Solid knowledge and understanding of all legal, tax and regulatory issues related to benefits.
Excellent oral and written communication, time management, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to pursue multiple objectives and initiatives, analyze complex issues, and facilitate change.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as a business partner.
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity to seek out new ideas, monitor trends, and incorporate learning into developing new and better work methods.
Demonstrated success in leading large projects/initiatives through to implementation and adoption.
Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA requirements.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of benefit plan designs and administration.
Self-starting with the ability to work with ambiguity.
The successful candidate will be adaptable and able to quickly shift roles from one of strategist to a hands-on tactical resources.
QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
8-10 years of related work experience with interest in leading both benefits and payroll highly desired.
Professional certification such as CCP, PHR or SHRM CP highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience identifying, designing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative and strategic business solutions to complex benefits challenges, particularly with transforming healthcare, wellness and retirement programs.
Broad understanding of benefits-related laws, regulations, and government programs, including ERISA, HIPAA, and ACA.
Proven track record of leveraging and managing outsourced benefits vendors.
Excellent interpersonal, influence, consulting, customer service, communication and collaboration skills required.
Experience influencing senior management required.
Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively balance competing priorities during project lifecycles while adhering to specific deadlines.
Deep understanding of change management and the ability to think strategically around how to deploy programs and manage that change across a variety of business units and different workforces.
Ability to embrace organizational ambiguity and change and navigate and make decisions through uncertainty.
Microsoft Office program proficiency.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/ OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to use normal office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer).
Must be able to talk/hear/sit for prolonged periods of time.
The work performed is conducted in a climate-controlled facility with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits.
Infrequent travel is required.
