The Role
We are looking to enhance the capabilities of our HR team by introducing a new HR Generalist role within our Group. This position will be based at our Ashland office and will directly report to the Vice President of USA Operations in Ashland, USA. Additionally, the HR Generalist will have a dotted reporting line to the Direct HR team in Ktec, Rosenort, Canada.
Objectives of this role
· Administer payroll and benefits for approximately 65 employees.
· Update/maintain employee handbook with personnel procedures and policies as needed.
· Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws.
· Participate in development of HR objectives and systems including metrics, queries, and reporting.
HR and Admin Responsibilities
· Prepare paperwork for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first day experience.
· Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding and new-hire orientations.
· Provide a dedicated service to employees that covers absence and health issues, including administration of workers compensation, short-term disability, FMLA and COBRA.
· Work with insurance carriers regarding workers compensation and disability claim filings, follow-up, and completion.
· Coordinate benefits enrollment due to new hires, termination, qualifying events, and open enrollment.
· Oversee unemployment claims with outside agencies.
· Assist in the communication and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory and organization chart, and contribute to policy development.

Payroll Responsibilities
· Review and enter payroll-related information to process biweekly payrolls for all hourly and salary employees of Ashland Industries.
· Analyze, audit, reconcile and resolve payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensure accurate and timely completion of payroll.
· Calculate final payouts due to termination.
· Respond to payroll queries from employees and management with timely resolution of discrepancies.
· Research and keep up to date on federal and state regulatory requirements for payroll processing.
· Enter and review new hires, status changes, group benefits, retirement, etc.
· Process year-end activities including issuance of W-2’s and 1095 reporting.
· Manage the deductions of court orders, wage assignments, garnishments, benefits, and retirement plans.
· Maintain employee records for changes in status, benefits, pay, etc.
Qualifications:
· Associate degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field preferred.
· Experience working in human resources and payroll.
· Resourceful mindset and strong attention to detail.
· PHR, SHRM-CP preferred, or willing to obtain certification.
· Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to employment.
