The Town of Herndon has an immediate need for an Assistant Facilities Maintenance Supervisor in the Public Works department. This department oversees all construction and land development, building inspections, water and sewer and street maintenance. As an Assistant Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, you will assist with the indirect and direct supervision of individuals and staff by assigning work, preparing, and planning work schedules, ensuring the completion of work requests, and preparing and maintaining reports and record of staff activities. .
In this position, you will support the Town of Herndon by:
• Assists in the supervision, direction, and evaluation for facilities staff; providing feedback and streamlining processes and workflow.
• Providing a safe, functional systems and facilities that meet the design intent.
• Identifying, analyzing, repairing and maintaining all town-owned electrical, heating and air conditional, water heating, emergency power generator, plumbing, building automation and fire and life safety systems.
• Reviewing and inspecting all new projects, repairs, installations, and upgrades.
• Overseeing implementation of federal, local and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance procedures.
• Working with contractors for bis submissions and job site statues.
• Conditioning town property for seasonal changes.
• Supporting town events as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of experience in building maintenance, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
• Must be able to obtain a Virginia Department of Transportation Flagging certificate and forklift certificate within one year of employment.

Due to the nature of a government providing services to the public all duties of this position are required to be fulfilled at the designated worksite in the town. No remote work is available.
