We are looking for an Assistant to the Town Manager to join us at Town Hall in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea
Who we are: A small town (6,500 year-round residents) located on 1.5 square miles of a barrier island between Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach in Broward County. We are a beach destination for visitors from all over the world. Our internationally diverse community and workplace offers a laid-back setting in which our residents and visitors can live, work and play. The Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea operates under a Commission/Town Manager form of government. The Town Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Town.
Who you are: One of the best and the brightest with a passion for public service with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration or a related field; supplemented by three (3) years of progressively responsible municipal or office management experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid State of Florida Driver License, with an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in public administration and two (2) years in a related position.
You have strong organizational skills; an understanding of program management, office management concepts; proficiency in business English, spelling, and arithmetic; and a desire to work independently with the ability to lead and and be a part of a team. Sensitivity to confidential matters is required. Your schedule is flexible and can accommodate attending Commission and community meetings and special events on nights and weekends as needed.
What you will be doing: Work involves project and program management with a high level of attention to detail and adeptness in communication with the public. Work involves routine to complex clerical and administrative activities in support of the Town Manager’s office operations and administration. You have advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, project coordination experience and the ability to establish effective working relationships. Excellent customer service skills are a must!
You will perform a variety of tasks that require independent judgment and action for making decisions in accordance with organizational policies and practices. Work direction is often relayed in the form of broad statements and general outlines, and you have considerable latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment to complete assignments. Position is responsible for diversified functions such as, but not limited to, grant writing, contract administration, public relations, policy development, and special projects.
What we offer: Full benefit package including vacation, paid sick-time, health, dental, and vision benefits. Starting range $56,000 to $84,000 for a 40 hour a week.
