POSITION TITLE: Field Data Technician
LOCATION: Olympia, WA
TYPE OF ROLE: Contract
DURATION: 6 months

SALARY/PAY RANGE: $20-$22 per hr

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Averro is currently seeking a Field Data Technician. The ideal candidate is responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment. It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data that supports outside plant engineering and various fiber-optic construction projects. Additional and ongoing opportunities exist in other geographic areas of the country. Client will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties. This position requires routine travel, typically involving multiple motel nights stays per month.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities. This will include measurements of attachment heights, span distances, angles, etc…
• Submit organized, detailed data for each project that could include maps, field notes and digital images.
• Operate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer, digital camera, measuring tools and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team.
• Work safely and independent of supervision.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
• Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting 15 to 20 lbs on a regular basis.
• Basic proficiency with computers including the ability to read, interpret and follow GPS maps.
• Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high quality environment.
• Ability to travel and to work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions.
• Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to see clearly at short and long distances in a variety of lighting conditions.
• Excellent communication skills; both written and oral.
• Present a professional appearance and attitude.
• Demonstrate high work standards with a quality orientation.
