We currently have an immediate need for a Manager of Project Engineering.

Position Summary

The Manager of Project Engineering is responsible for managing the Project Engineering (PE) team that supports Aviat’s services projects. Primary focus is the successful delivery of post- sale design and installation engineering, ensuring that projects meet customer expectations while maintaining expected revenue and margin commitments. The successful candidate should have experience delivering on turnkey engineering services with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and streamline business processes for maximum efficiency. Proven experience to communicate the “big picture” while prioritizing details when delivering both small-scale and large-scale deployment projects with new products and services in competitive markets.

Must have strong organizational leadership, innovation, analytics, competitiveness, sales savvy, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Profit and loss experience are a must.
Specific experience in Leadership, Engineering Management, Sales, and Project Management is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Directly manage the PE team to ensure that services projects are properly staffed.

• Responsible for the technical performance of all projects as it relates to the project engineering areas of responsibility.

• Be the primary technical interface to Motorola with responsibility to develop a mutually agreed to design requirements document, test procedures and close-out documents to provide Motorola with a consistent and cost-effective backhaul solution.

• Be responsible for the development and updating of all project engineering quality processes and associated training material.

• Lead and mentor a team of Project Engineers to boost their effectiveness.

• Communicate updates to installation practices to the NDE’s, TE’s, SE’s and NI’s to ensure changes are consistently assimilated.

• Provide support as needed to the Services Quoting and Services PMO activities. Work with Services Quoting to update Statements of Work as processes and product offerings evolve.

• Build relationships and interact cohesively with the region’s sales staff at both a management and working level, and other functional groups within Aviat Networks to assure that customer’s needs are being met.

• Ensure that any requests for pre-sales support are properly staffed.

• Work closely with representatives from Sales Operations, Operations, Sales, Project

Management, and other Business Process groups:

– Responsible for input to and maintaining annual expense budgets

– Work with SVP Americas on continued growth strategies that leverage the project engineering services organization

– Secure resource availability in support of specific customer engagements through strategic and operational staff planning

– Work as required with customers and sales staff on sales opportunities

– Work closely with our installation subcontractors to build partnerships and leverage strengths of both companies

– Drive efforts to streamline and evolve system and services, tools, and processes in support of optimizing program / project delivery capabilities and quality metrics

– Work with Sales to ensure Service pricing is in line with competitive market requirements

Education and Experience

• B.S. or B.E. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent military electronics training and experience in the telecommunications field

• 10+ years’ experience in the telecommunications industry with a proven track record of leading diverse teams in a challenging environment

• Solid technical understanding of RF/Microwave transmission networks and supporting sub-systems

• Strong business management skills

• Experience in working directly with Customers

• Ability to travel at least 25%

• Experience with managing and developing team members having a broad range of skills and experience

• Proven leadership track record, problem solving, and customer service capabilities

• Position requires a high level of focus, energy, and attention to detail

• Must be willing to engage at the individual project level to assist with resolving technical issues
