You will work with team members to foster a culture of candor, ownership, trust, and collaboration. Your ability to coach and provide strategic thought partnerships will help create synergy within and across teams. You will play a critical role in supporting team member relations, leader/manager coaching, culture, and change management, and will advise on matters of performance management and talent planning. You will serve as a strategic advisor to leaders and partner with other People team members to drive programs across the company. You will partner with Learning & Development, Recruiting, and Culture & Engagement as needed to build upon our existing program and ensure equitable support across all functional teams.

This position reports to the Director of People Operations. This is a full-time, hybrid in-office position located in Redwood City, CA, which will require you to work three days in-office when we can safely return.
What you’ll do:

• Provide dedicated People Team support to our global Creative, Marketing, and Merchandising teams
• Be a trusted advisor and coach to team members at all levels within these teams to help them deliver their best work every day
• Provide critical thought partnership to functional leads within the teams you support
• Regularly meet with managers and leaders to understand team landscape, diagnose issues, and brainstorm potential solutions, and generally support team health and pathways forward
• Navigate interpersonal and team dynamics, with comfort and experience managing conflict and difficult conversations
• Plan and/or facilitate critical team meetings and offsites in partnership with functional leads
• Build bridges between the distinct functional teams, as well as between them and our broader People team’s engagement priorities
• Develop a deep understanding of the teams’ roles at Balsam and how they work together
• Be well versed in our People programs, company norms, and processes to support organizational development, performance management, and succession planning
• Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the People Partner program and iterate where needed
• Upskill and/or train existing and potential new People Partners, as needed, to achieve the goals of the program throughout the company
• Curate a focused library of resources for People Partners to utilize in support of their teams

What you bring to the table:

• 7+ years of overall HR/People Ops or related work experience
• Prior experience supporting teams directly driving customer experience for a brand is preferred, bringing with you a solid understanding of industry standards for roles within these teams
• Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to coach, influence, and communicate effectively across all levels of the company
• Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of team dynamics and change management
• Confident group facilitator, ability to facilitate/led training workshops and other L&D created content
• Leadership Coaching experience and/or certificate a plus
• Cross-functional, written, and verbal communication comes naturally in solving problems and addressing roadblocks
• Comfort and leadership in managing conflict and providing direct, timely feedback (and coaching others to do the same)
• Emotionally intelligent, empathetic, creative problem solver who is willing to listen, think independently, and work through ambiguity
• Looking for someone with comfort and experience working with and influencing teams across different geographies and cultural backgrounds
