POSITION SUMMARY:
The Jr. Human Resources Generalist will assist the HR Department in some or all of the following functional areas: full cycle recruiting, benefits administration, compensation, employee relations, compliance and is a back-up in the area of workers’ compensation and leaves of absence. This position is a fast-paced role which requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The Human Resources Generalist must be sensitive to the company needs, employee goodwill, and business needs. Providing a great customer experience to our work force by listening, understanding and solving issues and problems in a clear, effective and empathetic manger is a must.
POSITION DUTIES:
First contact person for HR Department, screens questions, issues and inquiries and directs them accordingly.
Administers employee verification programs such as Driver Program and Drug Testing.
Assist with Onboarding and Offboarding process
Maintains human resources records by maintaining complete files for every employee, such as New Policies and Training Records.
Assists in full recruitment cycle for all open positions.
Assists in full cycle employee benefits for all non-union employees.
Verifies candidates background by performing background checks and calling references.
Enrolls new employees into BATS benefit programs.
Helps employees by explaining benefit programs.
Is back up to HR Generalist in charge of Workers Compensation.
Completes EDD forms for employees.
Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements. Ensures compliance with all regulatory laws and compliance areas.
Maintains manager and employee confidence by keeping human resources information confidential.
Track leaves of absence process. Performing data entry of leave of absence and benefit information into the human resources information, time & attendance, and payroll systems.
Assists with employee questions queries such as: PTO requests, W2 assistance, leaves of absence, initial payroll questions, HRIS questions, etc., via phone, chat, or email.
Partners with the Managers to discuss and determine next steps on leaves that have exhausted state and federal entitlements; recognizes when there is a need to escalate to upper management and/or legal.
Provides coaching and guidance to Managers and employees on HR processes and programs, company policies and procedures.
Assist Manager with employee relation’s issues including employee investigations and corrective action plans.
Maintains BATS required postings and ensures ordering of legally required postings for all sites.
Manages employee engagement calendar.
Performs HR administrative duties and assists Training/Safety Department with administrative duties.
Creates and updates Standard Operating Procedures and ensures all Desk Procedures are well documented.
Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE Amazing AT B.A.T.S:
Minimum 4 – 6 years Human Resources experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or similar field a plus
Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
Commitment to excellent customer service
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Union experience a plus
Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred, not required
