Overview:

Behrens and Associates, Inc, Environmental Noise Control – A highly successful Acoustical Consulting and Sound Control Firm have an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced Human Resources Generalist.

The Human Resources Generalist performs a broad range of HR-related duties and works closely with the HR manager in supporting designated geographical regions.

This position carries out responsibilities in the areas of multi-state payroll processing, recruitment assistance, orientation and on-boarding, policy interpretation and enforcement, employee relations, performance management, training, affirmative action/EEO compliance, employee records maintenance and retention, benefits and HRIS administration, and employment law compliance in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the Company. The Human Resources Generalist provides excellent customer service to internal and external client groups through professional and timely communications.

What You’ll Do:

• Process weekly payroll including prevailing wage, for both US and Canadian locations (approximately 90 employees).
• Assists with prevailing wage reporting in conjunction with west coast office as necessary.
• Assist in the administration of Human Resources plans, programs, and objectives that provide an employee oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, goal attainment and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
• Assist in developing department goals, practices, and systems.
• Assist with recruitment of assigned positions and facilitates employee on-boarding, background and reference checks, including posting job ads.
• Assist with interpretation and enforcement of Company policies and procedures.
• Assist with employee relations issues and with investigations and outlines recommended steps for resolution for review as approval by Human Resources Manager.
• Maintains employee files and records including HRIS records and other records management systems. Compiles reports as needed.
• Works with HR Manager to coordinate annual benefits open enrollment and other benefits-related activities. Conducts employee presentations and assists employee and HR Manager with processing changes within deadlines.
• Assists with leave of absence management including HRIS tracking and in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Assists with planning and executing Company activities including annual events and HR-related activities.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
• Coordinates separation of employees with various territories, including conducting exit interviews, notifying appropriate parties within the organization, and responding to external agencies.
• Maintains and expands knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws and regulations affecting human resources management, identifying trends that could impact organizational objectives and/or operational resources.
• Follows Company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

• 3-5 years of payroll processing experience (Multi-State Preferred).
• 3-5 years hands on Human Resources Generalist level experience.
• Basic knowledge of general payroll and HR practices including federal and state employment law.
• Previous experience with prevailing wage and any experience in a construction related environment is a plus.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Must have effective organization, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Must have excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
