Under general supervision, to provide services and inspections related to the enforcement of
Federal, State, and County agricultural and pesticide regulations; and/or to observe and participate in inspecting and monitoring the accuracy of all commercial weighing and measuring devices, to monitor the sale of packaged commodities, and to protect consumers from fraud and deception in the enforcement of Weights and Measures laws and regulations.
The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.
Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the ability to perform the above tasks, plus the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities:
Training and Experience Note: The required knowledge and abilities are attained through
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college in Agricultural, Biological, Chemical, or Physical Sciences, or related fields as determined by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).
OR
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college with at least 30 semester units (45 quarter units) in one or any combination of the following disciplines: Agricultural Science, Biological Science, Chemical Science, Physical Science, Mathematics, and/or Statistics.
AND
Two (2) years of full-time work experience performing inspections related to the enforcement of Federal, State, and County agricultural and pesticide regulations and/or weights and measures laws and regulations similar in scope and function to an Associate Biologist Standards Specialist with the County of Santa Clara.
