Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a problem-solving Software/Systems Operations & Maintenance Analyst to support Satellite Ground Data Center based in Springfield, VA.
In this role, you will perform ITIL Tier 2 Mission support for satellite control mission systems. We provide in-depth fixes, technical analysis and restoring software to normal operational status. The mission systems include Compute, Storage, and Database components.
Upon notification of an incident, then following detailed procedures, you will resolve software, system, or hardware failures. When appropriate we raise it to our Tier 3 Software Development Supplier.
Position Responsibilities:
Incident Response means ensuring mission software is implemented and operated well by the operations center. Mission software includes satellite command and control, mission planning, mission data processing, and flow orchestration. We solve problems using established procedures and processes to return the SW to normal operating conditions abiding by contracted incident response times:

• Mission Critical Incident: 1 hour to resolve the issue or develop a workaround or raise to Tier 3 factory team
• Mission Essential Incident: 6 hours
• Mission Support Incident: 72 hours

When not responding to an incident, tasks include:

• Perform system diagnostics and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain system software environments.
• Assist with transitioning of new systems into operations and decommissioning of old systems.
• Complete system tuning.
• Perform User Maintenance (profiles, user lists).
• Create backups.
• Help with system configuration audits.

In order to meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite at a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) Security Clearance with CI polygraph (FS Poly, CI Poly, FS/CI Poly, or FSP) (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) This role is contingent upon clearance verification and program and customer concurrence.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Current Security+ certification or CISSP certification.
• Experience as a systems administrator, preferably Linux or Unix.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Ability to identify and apply technical solutions.
• Programming and scripting skills (Python and Java preferred).
• Databases knowledge (Oracle preferred.)
• Responsibility and high degree of accountability.
• Ability to resolve issues with thoroughness and follow through to completion.
• Desire to participate in a support capacity in satellite operations missions.
• Ability to collaborate with fellow engineers, operators, satellite controllers, planners, and mission directors across different companies and government organizations.

Typical Education & Experience:
Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
