Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. M-F up to 28 hours per week

Position Summary:
Incumbent serves as Human Resources Assistant for the HR Department, responsible for providing administrative support of human resource operations and working under established Human Resource laws.
Essential Functions:
Arranges for advertising or posting of job vacancies.
Handles employment application/resume intake.
Balances monthly healthcare bills.
Monitors Family Medical Leave Hours.
Informs job applicants of their rejection of employment.
Assists in maintaining confidential personnel files.
Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status.
Assists with open enrollment and benefits questions.
Assists in administering employee benefit program.
Explains personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees.
Prepares identification badges.
Administers new hire orientations in absence of Human Resources Director.
Verifies I-9 documentation and complete E-Verify process for new hires in absence of Human Resources Director.
Reports new hires to State of Indiana
Assists with OSHA compliance and employee training.
Assists the Director with Human Resources projects.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent with 3 years’ experience in Human Resources or administration.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, training, benefits, labor relation laws and practices.
Ability to apply basic accounting skills when reconciling bills.
Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills and the ability to use a variety of office equipment, personal computer, custom software etc.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copier, and telephone.
Ability to provide public access to, or maintain confidentiality of, department information and records according to state requirements.
Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment.
Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, work rapidly for long periods, often under time pressure.
Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect.
Maintain and possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
