About the Role:
As Director of People Ops you will partner with the c-suite and executives company wide to strategically recruit, hire, and retain a high performing team. You will help us raise the bar with every hire, and ensure employees are empowered to do their best work.
You will create and oversee a strategic, organized, and methodical approach to hiring, cultivating a strong bench of prospective talent, selling them on the opportunity with Braintrust, and moving them through the interview process, all while creating as little friction as possible on the back end. You will get to know each prospective candidate; their motivations, goals, and desires and help us create incentives and opportunities that compel best in class talent to join the company.
You will work with employees and their managers to set ambitious goals that align with the company’s goals, as well as their personal and professional aspirations, and track their progress closely. You will help us to ensure we are fostering the growth of high performing individuals, and proactively identify people who are underperforming and make a recommendation for how to remedy the situation.
You will be instrumental in the day to day operations of the company as it pertains to managing our existing workforce, and how we grow and scale. It will be essential that we develop more streamlined and sophisticated methods for answering employee questions, collecting feedback, and upleveling the employee experience overall.
A successful candidate in this role will be able to take our existing systems and processes, run them effectively, and systematically upgrade them to achieve better and more scalable, sustainable, results. They will excel in a high performance culture and always be looking for ways to help the company improve and succeed.
Responsibilities
Own talent planning for the Braintrust core team, including outlook for future talent needs that align to business objectives.
Build structure to expand beyond core team capacity through contractors, freelancers, outsourced providers. Enable better process to onboard/offboard at scale.
Optimize our end-to-end recruiting process for the ideal candidate experience from recruitment, offer, and onboarding. Create a system that increases automation around candidate communication, standardizes the offer process, and timeline expectations.
Collaborate with department leaders to draft job descriptions, identify key elements of the role and questions to ask in an interview setting that will help determine if a candidate’s skill set is a match.
Proactively source and maintain a list of candidates who exhibit high potential, interest, and strong culture fit. Develop a bench of resources – recruiting agencies and individuals – to assist in searching for hard to fill roles.
Manage inbound resumes, and conduct first round screenings. Assess each candidate’s capabilities and experience to determine if they are a good fit for the role.
Set up a systematic way of setting and tracking goals for each team member as they onboard, quarterly, and annually in collaboration with their manager and aligned with the individual’s + company goals.
Develop a performance management system whereby we are giving top performers increased responsibility and opportunity for growth, and proactively identifying and coming up with strategies to support people who are underperforming.
Stay abreast of market trends and incentive models to ensure we are creating compelling offers for new candidates and retaining top tier talent.
Create a central repository for existing policies, procedures, and guides for employees.
Oversee team culture activities that foster a sense of ownership and belonging.

7+ years of experience in an HR generalist role.
Strategic planning experience and operational excellence – a must
Experience running an end to end recruiting process.
