Our busy and growing optometry office has a full-time opening for a Medical Insurance Verification Specialist. Flexible hours are available.
Principle duties and responsibilities:
- Verify insurance eligibility for both medical and vision insurance for upcoming patients by utilizing online websites or contacting carriers directly
- Review patient deductibles and/or copays and enter the information into the patients’ charts prior to appointments. Contact patients whose information is incomplete and/or inform them if there is a need to pay out-of-pocket
- Assist front office staff with clerical duties including reception, answering the phone, scheduling patients, maintaining patient demographic information, and fee slip entry
Qualifications and skills:
- Stong knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, preferably in the healthcare industry
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent phone communication skills
- Strong computer background and comfortable with data entry programs
- Possession of strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Ability to be proactive and take initiative
- As a healthcare office, we require all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
