As a Visual Design Intern, you will work collaboratively and independently with design professionals and i-Jet lab interns to create engaging UI prototypes, graphic materials, and visual assets. You will become an integral member of the design team committed to delivering superior results. You’ll learn how to work with designers from across the different divisions of Brunswick, as you own and manage assigned projects from inception to completion.
Timing
This position is for a summer internship at Brunswick’s i-Jet Lab in Research Park at UIUC:
– Full-time internship during Summer 2023, with a minimum of 20 in-person hours and a maximum of 40 per week with potential part-time extension into the following year (8 in-person minimum/20 maximum
As the Visual Design Intern, you will:
– Think big, augment a creative vision of the future of boating. Work alongside the autonomy and electrification team on design needs for visual material and mapping of solutions.
– Collaborate with our CGI team on concept ideation, illustrative storyboarding, XR experiences, and UI for CES and our Future Helm for Augmented Boating
– Create documentation necessary to convey design solutions or processes through image / trend boards, graphic illustrations, infographics, and other visual representations of information.
– Support and build print and digital design assets for various outreach and branding activities.
Qualifications of a Successful Candidate:
– Current enrollment in a BS/MS program with a major in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, UIUX or related
– If on a student visa, must be able to obtain CPT work authorization.
– A clear understanding of design thinking and the design thinking process
– Excellent traditional or digital sketching, creation of visual assets, infographics, and illustrations to communicate design intent
– Passionate about design with the ability to present effectively and to provide clear, insightful, and actionable design critiques
– Interest in technology’s role in user interface and experience improvements
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, Miro, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Figma. – Knowledge of Premiere Pro, Aftereffects, or other creative software a plus.
