The Building Custodian II supervises and participates in cleaning and maintaining the interiors of public buildings and surrounding areas; and performs other duties as required.
Current Vacancy Information:
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division, located in Honolulu.
Under the general direction of the Supervising Building Custodian and/or the Building Services Supervisor II, this position supervises and performs regular custodial duties. May occasionally perform heavy manual work and minor repair work. Ensure subordinates and self adhere to applicable safety practices, rules and procedures, and performs all duties in a safe and acceptable manner to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, and the general public. Performs other related duties as required.
Special Working Conditions: May be called out to work while on off-duty status to respond to custodial emergencies. Employee shall provide valid after hours contact number. Basic computer skills required with emphasis using MS Outlook, Word & Excel. This position serves as a disaster response worker.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and adjacent grounds.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment; practices, tools, and equipment used in janitorial and minor repair work; and the ability to give and follow oral and written instructions; operate tools and equipment used in janitorial work; and perform minor maintenance work.
Desirable Experience: Basic computer experience with e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).
