The City of Tucson is seeking an experienced Business process engineer who will be an effective communicator and can facilitate large groups to review and improve complex processes. They will develop and conduct engaging and effective training on Lean tools and concepts. This individual will possess the ability to build effective relationships with various citywide stakeholders at all levels; will take initiative and work independently; will manage a challenging workload and job responsibilities in a balanced, efficient, effective manner.
General Description
Positions assigned to this classification are primarily responsible for studying, re-designing, maintaining, and implementing business processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and operational costs throughout the city.
Essential Functions
Process Improvement Planning 40% – Defines and analyzes the current state of the process, the goals and intended outcomes of the process, and stakeholders and steps involved.
Process Improvement Implementation 15% – Works with leaders and business units to develop new or updated procedures.
Change Measurement and Improvement 25% – Collects data to track performance of the process before and after changes are implemented to clearly measure and document impact of the change.
Training 5% – Organizes workshops and meetings to collect input, train the methodology, build consensus, and drive process change to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Process Improvement Methodology Awareness 5% – Stays updated on IT trends, emerging technologies, and process improvement methodologies relevant to the supported department.
Other duties as assigned 5% – Completes special assignments and other duties as assigned including, but not limited to organizing events, executing department wide communication, consulting one on one with departments/divisions as needed, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field and three (3) years of directly related experience.
*Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Special Job Requirements
Experience (3 years) in business process analysis, reengineering, or process improvement roles.
Experience in managing large process improvement projects that include multiple disciplines

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.
