Job Description
Cardea Health is an Oakland-based nonprofit organization providing clinical staffing and program design that targets vulnerable populations in the San Francisco Bay Area, including people experiencing homelessness. Cardea Health is currently seeking Home Health Aides to work with formerly homeless individuals living in Permanent Supportive Housing. Candidates must have a desire to work with vulnerable residents with complex needs.
Qualifications:
- Must have personal, reliable transportation to and from shifts
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Must comply with all agency policies
- Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) is a plus
- Must be a California Certified Home Health Aide
- Hold active Basic Life Support certification
- Must be COVID vaccinated or willing to be vaccinated.
- Prior experience with mental health or disabled patients is desirable.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Providing companionship to residents in need
- Accompany residents to appointments
- Assist residents with errands and shopping
- Meal preparation
- Bathing and Dressing
- Hygiene Assistance
- Medication Reminders
- Toileting
- Light Housekeeping
- Laundry
- Assist nursing and housing staff as necessary
Physical Demands:
- Employees may need to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, use arms, hands and fingers. Employees will frequently need to communicate and listen.
- Employees many need to occasionally lift 100 pounds or more.
- Requires clear close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Employees may be occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
