Project Accountant

Chesapeake Contracting Group, a value-added commercial general contractor, is currently seeking an entry level Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant performs the following responsibilities:

– Submit Subcontractor Request for Payments (RFP’s) to operations for approval

– Maintain vendor compliances with corporate and project specific contractual requirements, (including pay application, insurance certificate, payment & performance bond, contracts, change orders, stored material documents, joint checks, etc.)

– Assist operations with monthly owner billing projects (enter requisitions, create lien waivers)

– Follow-up with vendors as needed for appropriate documentation

– Review sales and use tax on Purchase Agreements

– Process subcontractor payments

– Coordinate proper communication between operations and subcontractors

– Review subcontractor lien releases

– Maintain job files

Minimum Qualifications:

– At least (2) years of accounts payable experience

– MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience

– Excellent organization and time management

– Strong spoken and written communication skills

– Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks

– Effective working individually and within team environments

Preferred Qualifications:

– Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field

– Experience with Sage 300 (formerly Timberline), TimberScan and/or Procore construction software

– Experience in construction industry
