Performs a wide range of laboratory tests in various fields of medical technology; prepares reports of laboratory findings and maintains records of examinations; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancy:
There is one (1) vacancy with the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.
The Medical Technologist I is responsible for the independent performance of a wide variety of tests in the clinical laboratory and the ancillary areas of the Health Services Branch of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, which serves the entire City and County of Honolulu. Work schedule is Monday thru Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., but the position is subject to call-out around the clock to draw blood from individuals under police custody and testifies as an expert witness in all Hawaii Courts. Position will be appropriately compensated for any standby and/or overtime work.

**Salary commensurate with applicable experience $4,337 – $6,425 per month (SR-20), pending approval and subject to funding availability**

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in medical technology, bacteriology, serology, parasitology or chemistry.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of experience in medical technology in a medical, public health or clinical laboratory.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Required at the time of application:
1. Current State of Hawaii Medical Technologist license or equivalent; and
2. Valid driver’s license.
Prior to completion of probation:
1. Alcohol Testing Permit issued by the State Department of Health;
2. Occupational Hearing Conservationist Certificate issued by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation; and
3. Certification of Completion of NIOSH-Approved Pulmonary Function Training Course.
