WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Reporting to the Manager, HR Communications, the HR Communications Consultant serves as the primary communications partner and advisor to City National’s Human Resources team, developing and executing a comprehensive HR communications strategy. Partnering with the HR leadership team and other key subject matter experts, this role will translate critical HR priorities into tangible messaging to help drive awareness, engagement and action. This role will partner with leadership in executing the communication strategies to enhance City National’s brand both inside and outside of the company, maintaining an annual timeline to help track key recurring initiatives, adjusting to support new projects and priorities, making recommendations as appropriate, and ensuring HR points of view are effectively represented in companywide communications.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Regularly partner with key stakeholders to understand and assess needs, provide meaningful counsel, and translate these needs into action via customized plans and tactics that achieve desired results
Create communications using a variety of channels, including emails, newsletters, intranet sites, presentations, signage, virtual events, and websites.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders and partners to curate inclusive content, using strategic thinking, insights and creativity.
Own and lead communication-centric projects from conception to completion, which often include project management and administrative tasks.
Ensure the overall communications approach and deliverables align with Corporate Communications best practices and team-level priorities, and reflect the company culture, brand, mission, vision, values, etc.
Oversee multiple streams of work as well as manages deadlines and deliverables, set goals and timelines.
Identify, edit and oversee HR-related stories for internal platforms as well as for broader distribution such as social media, company blogs and recruiting collateral.
Research, write, format, proofread and distribute internally focused HR publications and communications such as colleague engagement survey, learning and development programs/calendars, etc.
Maintain HR Communications editorial calendar and oversee HR-related intranet content.
Drive a satisfying colleague experience using communications to develop culture and colleague engagement.
Act as liaison between Human Resources and Marketing Product & Digital team.
Oversee HR responses to City National’s main channels of internal input and feedback.
May organize and conduct colleague focus groups to identify communication needs, challenges, opportunities and results.
Participate in other projects and duties as assigned.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Must-Have*
Bachelor’s Degree Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or related field required.
Minimum of 5-7+ years’ experience in a marketing/communications role of increasing responsibility; previous HR support preferred; change management experience preferred
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Skills and Knowledge
Deep corporate communication experience, working with leaders in multiple stakeholder groups, and expertly managing a significant portfolio of deliverables
Able to quickly translate complex business and stakeholder needs into successful narratives and messages for a variety of audiences
Innovative storyteller with exceptional writing and editing skills, and a demonstrated ability to articulate a clear point of view on complicated issues in simple, concise communications
Interpersonal style that elicits trust, open-mindedness, and ability to build effective, collaborative working relationships throughout the organization
Highly organized, proactive, perceptive, collaborative, results-oriented and skilled at influencing others
Compensation
Starting base salary: $71,869 – $114,797 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
