The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordinator’s role is to coordinate, implement, and manage the organization’s strategies and initiatives for GIS software. This individual plans, coordinates, oversees, and participates in the development, implementation, integration, operation, and maintenance of the City’s geographic information system (GIS). The GIS Coordinator will also preserve the integrity and design of geographic information databases, as well as provide direction to City staff whose purpose is to support GIS functions.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or with major coursework in information sciences, geography, geographic information systems, engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Certificate or Licenses: GISP Certification or the ability to obtain certification within nine months after the date of hire, COBIT 5 Foundation, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

The essential functions of this position require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office or virtual setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; the dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components; occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings; lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals; and to hear and verbally communicate to exchange information. Includes on-call availability as needed, nights and weekends on occasion. May also be required to operate a City vehicle, on occasion and travel for work as required.
